Audrey Hepburn’s son responds to Rooney Mara’s casting as his mother

Audrey Hepburn’s son has reacted to the news that Rooney Mara will play his mother in an upcoming biopic.
Sean Hepburn Ferrer, the son of Hepburn and her first husband, actor Mel Ferrer, only had praise for the choice as he shared his positive reaction publicly.
Speaking to Fox News Digital on Friday, after news of the untitled project was confirmed, he revealed that he hadn’t known that there was a movie was in the works.
‘I was not aware of the project,’ he explained.
The 61-year-old then added, generously: ‘Rooney is a delight. Sounds like there is a lot of love there.’
Hepburn, who died of cancer aged 63 in 1993, was a much-loved activist, actor and fashion icon, known for her performances in such classic films as Sabrina, Roman Holiday – for which she won an Oscar – and Funny Face, as well as her partnership with long-time designer Hubert de Givenchy.

After her marriage to Ferrer, with whom she starred in War and Peace, ended in 1968, she married Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti and had a second son, Luca, in 1970.
The role most closely associated with her was that of Holly Golightly in 1961’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s, which sealed the popularity of the little black dress in fashion evermore.
Nominated a total of five times in the best actress category at the Oscars, Hepburn also became a global ambassador for UNICEF and worked on a number of humanitarian projects, travelling the globe and visiting some of the world’s poorest communities in Africa, South America and Asia.

Carol star Mara, who received an Oscar nomination for her role in the 2015 drama as well 2011’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, will also produce the film for Apple Studios.
The biopic will be directed by Call Me By Your Name helmer Luca Guadagnino, and written by Michael Mitnick (The Current War), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
