BTS absolutely brought it with an epic world premiere performance of latest single Life Goes On, as well as chart-topper Dynamite, at the 2020 American Music Awards overnight – with fans so happy to see Suga performing with the group.
The rapper is on the mend following recent surgery to his shoulder, however it appeared the group had pre-recorded their performance for the awards ceremony before he took time off to recover.
The pop superstars closed the show at Seoul Olympic Stadium with two songs – frankly, even two wasn’t enough to satiate us – and also showed a lot of love towards their fandom, Army, with a brilliant show of purple in a nod to the collective colour that represents the group.
In the US only a limited audience – all wearing masks – were allowed inside the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles for the awards, with the city is in the grip of a dramatically worsening coronavirus pandemic.
Because of this, BTS – made up of RM, Jin, Jungkook, V, Suga, J-Hope and Jimin – took to the stage in their home country of South Korea, where they’ve been busy working after postponing offline tour dates.
Bringing us the first performance of Life Goes On, which is from their recently-released album, BE, we had all the feels witnessing the world debut of the ballad, as the group wore matching black and white outfits.

They followed it up with a rousingly upbeat rendition of their hit Dynamite, changing into colourful silk suits to amp up the mood for everyone watching from home.
Not doing anything by halves, either, they incorporated a spectacular fireworks show for the performance, as well as lighting up the stadium on the inside with glowing purple Army Bombs – the glowsticks used by fans at concerts – which had a lot of people feeling things.
One fan mused on Twitter: ‘BTS RENTED A WHOLE ASS STADIUM FILLED WITH ARMY BOMBS TO CREATE A PURPLE OCEAN REPRESENTING ARMYS!
‘THE WAY THEY LOVE US.
‘BTS WORLD DOMINATION INDEED!!!’
Another Army swooned: ‘As a baby Army, I was overly touched seeing this. I cannot find the exact words to describe my emotions. Glad I decided to join this fandom. I LOVE YOU BTS fr the moon and back. CONGRATULATIONS BTS and ARMY.’
Not only did they tear the arena down with their performance, but the group also took home two awards – favourite pop/rock duo/group and favourite social artist.
While Suga was present for the performance, as the group accepted their awards the rapper was absent – with the stars instead including a cardboard cutout of him. Bless!
