Beyonce, Jay Z and Dolly Parton were among the stars who made surprise ‘appearances’ at the American Music Awards 2020.
Show host Taraji P Henson needed some company as she presented the awards ceremony on Sunday evening and had some famous faces in the front row.
Cardboard cutouts of Drunk In Love hitmakers Beyonce and Jay Z were perched on seats at the auditorium as Taraji danced around them. Country legend Dolly Parton and Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks also ‘sat’ in the audience alongside Spanish superstar Rosalia.
Of course, this year’s AMAs looked completely different due to the coronavirus pandemic meaning a live audience wasn’t allowed.
However, viewers at home were treated to performances from the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Megan Thee Stallion and Machine Gun Kelly who was introduced by his girlfriend Megan Fox.
Katy returned to the stage for the first time since giving birth to her daughter in August and performed an intimate version of her song Only Love from her latest album Smile.
Rapper Nelly celebrated the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough album Country Grammar and delivered a medley of hits including Ride Wit Me and E.I.

Billie Eilish performed her new single Therefore I Am while Megan kept everyone dancing with her latest track Body, released last Friday.
Beyonce may not have been physically present at the AMAs but she was still the talk of the town thanks to Jennifer Lopez’s performance. Fans have compared Jennifer’s scorching performance of Pa’ Ti and Lonely with Maluma to Beyonce and Jay Z’s iconic performance of Drunk In Love at the Grammys in 2014.
Both singers sported short wet hair and black bodices for their respective performances and also danced around chairs with red, black and blue strobe lighting.
Taylor Swift, The Weeknd and Dan + Shay were the big winners at the AMAs 2020 with all taking three gongs each.
Canadian singer The Weeknd won favourite soul/R&B male artist, favourite soul/R&B album for After Hours and favourite soul/R&B song for Heartless.
