Chris Jericho launched a vicious attack on Eddie Kingston and even used a fireball to inflict some damage during AEW Dynamite.
The WWE legend – who left Vince McMahon’s company in January 2018 and signed with the rival promotion a year later – took his feud with the New Yorker to another level after a war of words earlier in the night.
Wednesday’s episode saw the Jericho Appreciation Society – which includes Hager, 2point0 and Daniel Garcia among its ranks – target their rival in a backstage beat down.
At one point the former world champion even threw a fireball into Kingston’s face, leaving him reeling from the attack.
Fans loved the old school, over the top moment, and Jericho had a simple explanation for his ability to unleash such power.
He simply tweeted: ‘I’m a wizard….’
Fireballs have a long history in wrestling having being used plenty of times over the years, but some fans suggested Jericho’s was up there with the best of them.
One viewer wrote: ‘@IAmJericho just threw one of the best fire balls I’ve seen in wrestling history. I love @AEW.’
Another added: ‘Who knew that @IAmJericho can throw fireballs perfectly?’
And a different fan said: ‘God damn…. that [fire]ball that @IAmJericho & #JerichoAppreciationSociety just lit in @MadKing1981’ face. Jericho is a savage!’
Elsewhere on Dynamite, the show opened up with a wrestling clinic as FTR tag team partners Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler faced off for one night only in singles competition with the latter earning himself a spot in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament.
After the match, CM Punk got the mic and revealed he’ll be battling ‘Hangman’ Page for the AEW World Heavyweight Title at Double Or Nothing on May 29.
And in a chaotic main event, Scorpio Sky regained the TNT Championship in a Ladder Match against his rival Sammy Guevara, ending his reign at less than two weeks.
AEW Dynamite airs Wednesday nights at 1am on Fite.
