On average, retailers sell seven LEGO sets every second of every day. In other words, this is one of the most popular toy brands on the market.

How can that help children grow and develop, though? Well, that’s where LEGO learning can come in handy.

This concept is ideal to further the minds of our youth in many ways. Keep reading to get some ideas for how to use the LEGO building for education in the classroom.

LEGO Learning With Math

Mathematics can often be a challenging subject for students. With LEGO math lessons, though, students can visualize mathematical concepts and develop a better understanding of them.

For example, you can use LEGO bricks to teach fractions by asking students to build a tower using one color of bricks and another tower using a different color. Then, ask them to figure out what fraction of the total tower each color represents.

LEGO Building and Science

LEGO bricks can also be used to teach science concepts, such as physics and engineering. You can have students build bridges, towers, or other structures to test their strength and durability.

You can also use LEGO Technic kits to teach mechanical engineering principles. Doing so with these shapes and patterns is a great way to help students develop a better understanding of simple machines.

Language Arts

You can also use LEGOs in language arts to help students develop their reading and writing skills. For example, you can have students build a scene from a story they have read and then write a paragraph describing the scene.

This activity can help students visualize the story and develop their descriptive writing skills. This can be of particular value for students who tend to struggle with reading in the first place.

History and Social Science

LEGO bricks can be used to teach history and social studies by having students build structures from different time periods or cultures. For example, students can build pyramids to learn about ancient Egypt or recreate a medieval castle to learn about the Middle Ages.

Another example is to have students recreate famous landmarks or historical sites from different regions of the world. For instance, they could build a model of the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum in Rome, the Statue of Liberty in New York, or the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.

LEGO Robotics

Using LEGO sets for robotics is an excellent way to teach STEM education while also developing problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. LEGO Robotics kits come with motors, sensors, and software.

These allow students to build and program robots to perform specific tasks. It’s also one of the focuses that you can find at some education summer camps. In fact, learn more about LEGO camp to see how your student could benefit from attending.
