Dr. Noman Mohamed (@drnomzzy) is a cosmetic dermatologist who also teaches others interested in the field.
When he’s not teaching, he is sharing skincare and beauty tips that work from head to toe.
In a viral Instagram Reel, he revealed the step-by-step process behind his sandwich method.
He described it as being “amazing for dry” hair, and the directions are easy to follow.
The key is conditioner and how you use it.
The first step is to wet your hair with water and apply conditioner on the length of your hair all the way to your ends.
Dr. Mohamed explained that you leave the conditioner in while you shampoo your scalp and the roots of your hair.
Then, wash out both the shampoo and conditioner together.

Finally, coat the lengths and ends with conditioner again before rinsing it out a second time.
Dr. Mohamed explained in the video’s caption that another option is to swap the conditioner for coconut oil and use it as a mask on the lengths and ends.
However, not everyone was sold on the benefits of his beauty tip.
“My conditioner costs too much for these kinds of shenanigans,” one viewer wrote.
“Hmmm I mean he’s a doctor but not a cosmetologist because the full length of the hair needs to be shampooed not just the roots. It’ll just leave your hair heavy and oily over time,” another commented.
“Double waste the conditioner?” someone else asked.

Other viewers were enthusiastic about the haircare remedy, especially those who have already tried it.
“So, I do this for the second shampoo. The first time, shampooed everything as normal. The second time I just shampoo my scalp and conditioner in the ends,” one person shared.
“Let it sit for a couple minutes, rinse, and then just condition the lengths. I’ve noticed such a difference!”
“Tried it. It’s good,” another said.
Absolute Collagen Trichologist Eva Proudman recommended washing your hair every day, especially after exercise.
She said it won’t dry out your scalp or produce excess oils.
She also advised against following viral social media hacks, including blow drying your sweaty hair.
